I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I taught fourth grade for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years at an alternative high school in Western North Carolina. I have been at Tigard High School since the fall of 2003, where I teach U.S. History and Psychology.

by the way I heard your wife was at the art show and awkwardly talked to caro about some sort of teacher life OUTSIDE of school. as though you guys "hangout" and "talk" about other things or even "go out" to eat... what was that?

In regards to that Supreme Court decision...I'm not sure how I feel about it. When I first read it I was thinking "well, duh, that just makes sense." But then I read the article and thought about child rapists, and even serial child rapists. I think what they do is almost just as bad as murder. Sure the child is still alive, but it's been completely robbed of its childhood and innocence, and will most likely require extreme therapy.
I think Patrick Kennedy citing "evolving standards of decency" is complete B.S. though. Doesn't look like his standards of decency were very evolved. Ugh. Jerk.
I came on here to post something else. But now I don't remember what it was.

Okay, I guess Patrick Kennedy didn't cite "evolving standards of decency." But still, the guy who did cite it is ridiculous. Guys like Patrick Kennedy who do stuff like that aren't very decent.
I'm beginning to hate the vagueness of "cruel and unusual punishment." I think that execution is neither cruel nor unusual in cases like these. It's not like these criminals are stealing some candy bars from 7-11. They are raping children and killing people. They deserve what they get.
