Election Night 2008

Hopefully your brains are recovering from the unit exam. Don't forget to READ tonight!

Feel free to post your election night thoughts on the blog. I will be checking the blog throughout the night. I probably won't sleep very much tonight if the election is super close. Can't wait to discuss the election in class tomorrow.

McCain is winning 8 to 3 right now. But that's not saying much.

Obama won Vermont, and McCain won Kentucky.

McCain and Obama are both winning states that expected to win. The key for Obama is to win at least one or two Bush states from 2004 and he's the next president.

States to watch:
Virginia
Indiana
Colorado
Nevada

Can you believe that in New Hampshire, Jeanne Shaneen is beating John Sununu. Seriously, where do these New Hampshire people get their names?

In other news, Biden and Kerry both seem likely to win their districts for Congress.

Oh, yeah, presidential elections are today, too. Nader currently has .5% of the vote, but it's still early. I should probably talk about the front-runners as well. Barack Obama is the predicted winner in New Hampshire, while the McCain-Fey, I mean, McCain-Palin campaign is falling behind on electoral vote projections.

My little sister (6th grade) has a friend over. She knew all about the electoral votes, so I was impressed.

Now I just heard her say this:
"McCain only looks experienced because he's got Palin."

So I turn to her and say:
"Actually, Palin is fairly inexperienced. She's pretty new at this."

She turns to me and says with a condescending tone:
"No. Palin is very, very experienced."

Hehe. That made me giggle.

I really want to tell my Bio teacher that I can't take the test tomorrow because I was busy being a good American and watching the telly.

If she does not comply, I may use your line on her, Carlisle.

"Dr. Harris...why do you hate America?"

Obama is the (projected) winner, and unless some kind of massive shift in opinion of about 100 delegates happens before December 15th, he'll make it into office! Sorry, McCain.

P.S. Take that, Alex Hill. I bolded my numbers and candidate names, too!

they should have just ended the elections at 8-3 McCain. i am curious to see what Obama will do with the war. I really hope we dont just leave the terrorists alone. "Ok we are gonna leave you guys alone to make bombs for a few years..."

BUT, i am actually very glad an African American is President, that is a huge step. That will one day be on a history test like The Compromise of 1820 we had today, which i nailed!

Although I knew Obama would win, I am very scared and disappointed. Because of Bush's mistakes many Republicans have transferred to either independent or democrat and I think that that is ridiculous. Obama wants to give us change, I'm just not confident that it's the right kind of change. :[

Well I feel like this is amazing, but unfortunate.
America looks good right now because we just elected the first African-American president. BUT as soon as somthing happens to him OR anybody in his family America will look horrible. There with be racial riots breaking out everywhere and America will be a mess...not to mention our economy will already be completely gone.

8:50 PM

Blogger Ashley L said...

Adding to the last comment...
when riots start to break out because of the racists citizens(after Obama officially takes office and plans on changing the constitution to abandon the right to bear arms), there will be no protection for the helpless citizens because they will no longer have rifles! But in reality, wouldn't it take A LONG TIME to confiscate EVERYONE's weapon? I don't really think this is logical.

I don't think people acknowledge that Mao Zedong, Hitler, and Stalin all were GREAT speakers and promised "change". All turned out to be mass murderers. SHOOT.

Also..Obama's militia?? Really? This is really terrible.

Please don't post anonymous comments attacking other people.

Ashley,

I appreciate your passion about the election, however, I would like to play Devil's Advocate in regards to your previous comment.

John F. Kennedy, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan were all great speakers. Does that mean they were like Hitler or Stalin? I think that you're making a really unfair comparison between those evil men and Obama. What do you think?

Blogger Ashley L said...

Well, Mr. Carlisle you do have a great point. I guess I will be optimistic about this whole thing and be open-minded. I guess the only thing I am actually concerned about are the BIG tax increases. It's a loss to home and business owners.

But who knows, maybe he will end up being the greatest president of all time. I'll just wait it out before I jump to conclusions.
