Normally I would delete your comment and move on, however, I would like to use it as a cautionary tale for others. Please don't use the blog to complain about stuff you have to do in this class. If you don't like the reading or anything else you have to do in this class, I will gladly have a drop form waiting for you tomorrow before class. Take the withdraw failing grade and drop the class. This is a college level class and the readings reflect that. If you don't like it either suck it up or leave, the choice is yours.
You will have more readings that will challenge you like this one. You should have looked over the reader after I gave them out. You got it on the first day of class. If you didn't like what you saw then, you could have taken non-IB US History.
If you are headed to college, you will have even more readings like this one, (i.e., somewhat dry and very academic). However, those readings will come from a textbook that will cost your or family a lot of money. Deal with it. Not every reading is going to be action packed.
If you wish to continue this discussion, I would love to do so in person tomorrow.
I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I taught fourth grade for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years at an alternative high school in Western North Carolina. I have been at Tigard High School since the fall of 2003, where I teach U.S. History and Psychology.
