About Me

I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I taught fourth grade for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years at an alternative high school in Western North Carolina. I have been at Tigard High School since the fall of 2003, where I teach U.S. History and Psychology.

I got a slight automatic preference for African American compared to European American and a moderate association of Male with Career and Female with Family compared to Female with Career and Male with Family. I think the IAT is really interesting even if there might be some confounding variables and I like to see my results. In eighth grade or something I got a slight preference of European Americans over African-Americans, and I don't think I have any preference.

I got a moderate preference for European Americans compared to African Americans and a moderate association of Male with Career and Female with Family compared to Female with Career and Male with Family. I think my right-handedness had something to do with a lot of my answers, but the results are still pretty interesting. Thanks for the distraction from my homework!

This video makes me question how biased I am. And I wonder how strong of a conflict there is between my conscious and unconcioius reaction to men/careers and women/family.
