Syria is so scary right now. My Mom's boyfriend, Fadi, his entire family lives there and so far nothing has happened in their particular city, however, recently one of the family friends was out with his daughter just outside the city and had his car hijacked and his daughter taken for ransom. Thankfulluy the daughter was returned but all the women and children are advised to stay indoors. It so scary.

it is indeed a scary place right now. Do you think it warrants direct U.S. involvement?

Why would the US directly involve itself in Syria's affairs instead of approaching the UN with a potential call-to-action?
4:41 PM
Because 5000 civilians have been slaughtered by their gov't and the UN has yet to take any direct action on their behalf. There's been talk of arming the rebels in Syria.

I wish there was some other peaceful way to help them out without anyone dying. However, it may turn into another situation like Iraq and that- though successful, caused much damage as well. I think the US should have some conference with the UN and they should have a closer force step in and regulate. It is a very sensative situation and I just hope the President Assan either changes his regime in agreement with the people or some closer military force persuades him. OR they could do like what's going on in Korea and have spies just randomly start killing off the existing government officials and immediately put in place someone of their choosing- in agreement with the Syrian people of course.
