Amending the Constitution

Directions:

I would like you to THINK about whether you would support adding one, some, or none of the amendments described below to the U.S. Constitution. Be prepared to support your reasoning with evidence.

Issue 1: Flag Protection Amendment: this amendment would PROHIBIT the desecration of the U.S. flag. Protestors would no longer be able to burn the flag, trample the flag, etc. as a form of protest.

Issue 2: Modify Requirements to be President:

How would you change the requirements for the presidency? 

As it stands now, the only requirements are to be at least 35 years old, a natural born citizen, and have lived in the US for 14 consecutive years

Issue 3: Fetus Protection Amendment: this amendment would place limits on abortion 

options: 

ban ALL abortions in the U.S. No exemptions. Period.

allow abortion but only if the mother's life is at risk during the pregnancy and/or child birth

allow abortion only in the case of rape or incest

Issue 4: Outlaw the death penalty
