I dont think its the same kind of love that you would feel towards a significant other, i mean, is she attracted to the Eiffel tower? does she feel lust towards it? when she touches a door knob is she cheating on it?

i think the psychologists are right on to thinking its some sort of disorder. i would also guess it has something to do with unconscious fears developed during childhood from previous abuse or some unpleasant circumstance with a loved one. i dont think love, the kind you are supposed to feel to say a husband or family member, is possible to feel towards an object. maybe some other sort of connection but i dont think it can or should really be called love...

im more of a, "great wall" kinda guy, myself. on a serious note, i dont think the same kind of love can exist, isnt real love not only lust (which victor made a great point with) but also companionship? this lady doesnt seem to be devoted to any one of these objects nor does it seem possible for someone to build a relationship with an object. dont therapists, friends and movies all say communication is key?!

I remember reading about some girl in the Edge who was in love with the Berlin Wall and when it got torn down she was heart broken. I cried for her.

not to do with the post, but I just wanted to confirm that in essay number one, we're aloud to use personal pronouns.

and also, with essay number two, if for the questions 'what happens when humans go without sleep' and 'how lack of sleep effects humans' can be combined into one paragraph since it's asking the same thing.

Possibly her childhood traumas of not having a home or anyone to love her had an inner effect on her--even if she doesn't realize it. Many psychologists connect emotional trauma that occurred in childhood to this love for inanimate objects, and maybe she felt that because she moved around so much, nobody wanted her so she lost hope in getting love and attention from humans? Or maybe her time in foster care, where she was probably alone a lot, gave her the time to consider the feelings of inanimate objects and therefore develop feelings for them?

Whatever the reason, it's whack.

Very interesting. Although I must admit I have found myself occasionally attracted to a set of drums as mentioned in the article.
But as to claiming to "understand it" or "feel it's pain" or something, maybe there's mescaline in the water supply.

Vikrant PencilSharpener has a very nice ring to it. I'll skip on the ceremony, though.

I've heard a story similar to this about a woman who said she had been married to the Berlin Wall for 20 years, and became furious upon the tearing down of her husband.

Did anyone else notice that not only is she in love with an inanimate object, but also refers to the Tower as a "her"? Last time I checked, I don't recall most towers having genders.
