I find it laughable that this guy has the nerve to call the president a liar when during the whole month of august the republican party (with the help of right wing talk radio/fox news) made up lies and started a smear campaign about the health care proposals put out by Obama.
This just goes to show how bankrupt the republican party is of ideas and how out of touch they are with the people suffering everyday because of lack of affordable health care. As someone who will be out in the real world in 4 short years, I hope that I will be able to get a job that provides me with good health care. With the way things are now, there is no guarantee that I won't just get dropped from coverage when I need it the most or be able to afford it at all.
I really hope that Obama's plans get put into law. The U.S. can't afford not to.
I seem to be in the right place... Anyway, I thought this was pretty interesting. And I'm looking forward to this class because I wish to be a History teacher too someday and maybe this course will help me decide for sure if that's what I want to do. Who knows?
Listen to the reaction of the congress when Obama, claims something false. Im glad someone called Obama out on his lie. By the way im so lucky to have you for 2 periods in a row! yipee! looking forward to a fun year-Chad Nathanson period 1 and 2
Thanks for all of the comments. However, I would really love to hear what you think about the Representative from SC calling Obama a liar. Was he out of order? Is he a hero? What do you think?
The comments you leave for posts like this one can positively affect your participation grade. Keep the comments coming!
mr carlisle, i thought about your class because someone said something about their history homework in a facebook status...ok now i feel weird. ANYWAY i've been reading a lot of Zinn this summer, good stuff. ciao!
I agree with Max in that I find it ironic that there would be a heckler from the Republican party if they are responsible for spreading false information about health care reform.
I believe that whenever citizens enter into a government building such as the Capitol Building, there should be a heightened sense of respect immediately. Furtermore, what occurred yesterday did not happen during a working session of Congress. The President was making an address to America and to the world. The congressman from South Carolina needs to consider what kind of example and facade he is presenting to the world when he can't hold his tongue.
Passion has its place, but this certainly wasn't the arena.
I LOVE that this man had the guts to say what he thought. I think that he should not have of apologized for the comment. I think everyone is making this out to be way more than it is. This man is totally in the right and I admire him greatly for what he did!
Ha i love it when people think they know what they are talking about and randomly yell out "your wrong" or in this case telling Obama he's a liar. What a know it all, oh im doing this for the homework hehe.
You lie! September 10 6850 up, 993 down love it hate it

Obama: There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This too is false - the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.
I think shouting out 'you lie' wasn't a great idea on his part. He's the one who looks bad now instead of Obama because he's the one being rude. He should have found some other way to say it. -Sonya N. period 3
hey max slyter, the US government cant afford to at all. the US government has billions to trillions of accumullated debt. Our generation and our kids will be stuck paying off debt. we dont want to pay for people who made bad choices in life and cant provide for them self. look at the UK and their healthcare system. Anyone who has money comes to get their treatments in here where they dont have to wait in line, while their life is being wasted away because the whole country is in line. if you hope to find a job that provides it, then work hard in school to find a job, or pay for it your self. dont wait for the rest of us to pick up everyone else because they didnt make it in life.
I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina.
