It is shocking to see such events to happen, and specially by policemen. In the video, one cannot see any actions of Rodney King for the officers to take self defense upon. Such beating is horrific and cruel. The beating is just taken out of proportion by the officers and it even comes close to the lynchings in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I mean the rest of the policemen are just viewing the beating, looking at it almost as a show. I just can't believe that the policemen were found not guilty for any crime. I believe this action still shows how the white man-not all-may still feel superior to other races.

how ruthless can you be? it seems like these poliucemen were almost enjoying what they were doing. i dont get how they are in any way justified to do what they didi he wasnt even threatening them when they started it was more like a fun time with a punching bag. There is no self defense by the officers only a ruthless attack.

tthere really is no extent as to what people can do to others... Rodney King did not even do anything to "threaten" or "assualt" the police officers. They beat and kicked him to the point where he could barely even move, let alone fight back against the officers. This really shows how whites were extremely racist against blacks... up to just 18 years ago they could do this to a man and not be found guilty for their crime. Like rahul said, what the police officers did was not for self-defense, it was simply a ruthless attack against Rodney. I think that up to this day these acts of creulty still exist. Yet nothing is done about it. Its a miracle that he suvived this incident to tell his story.

It's difficult for me to understand how people can judge entire groups of people based on skin color, or nationality, or religion. I know a lot of people born all the way up to the 70s grew up with a lot of bias, if not racism. My parents always say they aren't racist, because being racist in today's society is a huge taboo. But they always point out when someone isn't white. It's like "look at that. How weird, they're black! hahaha!" I think if Rodney King had been a drunk white man, the officers would have laughed it off and shoved him in the back of the police car. They're having a laugh, beating up Rodney King. And it's wrong.

I cannot believe what I just saw. Those police officers had absolutely no reason to be beating on him like that, it was like they had nothing better to do so they decided to just beat on the guy. The Rodney King was not even putting up a fight so they really had no reason to continue to beat on him. It is amazing to see what some people will do to another person based on thir race, religion or anyting else they can justify it to themselves for.

To go on about the truck driver that was another amazing riot to read about. I cannot imagine what it was like for that man to be pulled out of his cab like that and practically beat to death just becase he drove up onto an angry riot. There was no justifying what happened to him, and how drastic his life changed due to his near death experience.

I love finding videos on youtube about "Police brutality" that are just out there to give people more reason to hate cops. Some of them are bogus, and only morons think that what they are watching is brutality. But this video is different. The guy is obviously down and out, and they keep hitting him and kicking him with no reason. Those cops need to know that their authority doesn't grant them the right to do those such things. I trust our law enforcement. But it pains me to see these kind of things that make people fear/hate cops even more. It's sad that people have these feelings toward cops when their job is to serve and protect.

I agree with Rob--I usually try to an approach these type of situations with an open point of view. I consider what the police officers were going through. Yes, this man may have been drunk and eluding arrest in an extremely dangerous manner. However, there is absolutely no excuse for this incident. This was a ruthless beating done for no apparent reason.

I'm going to state the obvious by saying how incredibly disturbing that is. that reminds me i have a question about lynching, i'll ask you tomorrow.

I do not understand how people can do this to a fellow human being! Something could never be justified, no matter what the reason, which they had none. I am almost just as disgusted at the jury who did not convict these police officers. How can people knowingly allow an injustice to go unpunished, especially one that was caught on film.
