Watching this makes me want to watch Pocahantas. It actually helped me visualize what I just read.

Oh my goodness this is so funny to watch. But seeing clips from Pocahontas reminded me of how different the Disney version is from what actually happened as described in the reading about Jamestown and the Native American tribe.

Wow, someone went through a lot of work to do this. James Cameron's creativity level just dropped. I especially enjoyed the ending when the two clouds collide and say Avatar.

You know what would be really good for our history-oriented minds Mr. Carlisle? We could watch Pocahantas and afterwards, we could discuss everything wrong with it and anything that was somewhat accurate.

Brendan,

Pocahantas will never be shown in my class. Ever.

Watching this makes me wonder if John Rolfe was as nice of a guy as Disney made him look in Pocahontas 2. I just watched the first half of it on my trusty VCR; It was so bad I turned it off. I hate sequels. The reading didn't say too much about Rolfe. It would be interesting to know how he treated Pocahontas after they got married.

That was pretty well done. Even though Avatar wasn't very original, it still tells a pretty good story of what happens when a "superior" race discovers a land land filled with "savages" in search of a shiny rock.

Pocahontas is depicted as a hero in the movie, but in history, she was just an offering of peace from the Indians (that didn't work). We were misinformed about her as we were about Columbus when we were children...

I that was really neat. He did a good job mixing it. Like Mat said. Another simalarity would be the tree. There is Grandmother Willow and then there is the giant tree in Avatar.

This is the one I have seen before. Same concept different format, same outcome.
