I wonder if NYC will commemorate those that died in the airplanes that crashed in the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania. I must say, the memorial looks like a piece of art. It's quite a sight.

I don't quite understand why they thought it would be a good idea to try and do both a museum and memorial in the same site as opposed to two separate entities. Wouldn't that save a lot of complicated discussions and allow the memorial to be more emotional and the museum to be more factual? I feel like they may have lost more than they gained with the dual purpose exhibit, or am I missing something?

I'm still not that happy that they are building something over where the towers stood. I think that it would have been more powerful if they left the place where they stood without anything covering them.
But if they must have something covering them I think a memorial is a good idea. Adding a museum in the mix could work. Though I think its is a rather complex idea and would have to be well thought out. For me I'd wait a few years and come back and do it. The wounds are still too painful for many. I don't think many people would be open to it.

I think its good they built the memorial there. The alternative would be leaving a huge scar right in the middle of NYC. I think building the memorial on top of the sacred ground shows that we've gone from mourning to remembrance.

I have two thoughts when it comes to 9-11: hatred (seriously? Unwarranted attacks? THAT'S how you try to react towards America? Really?) and disbelief (let's leave the dishonorable in the past, anyone?). I am truly sorry for what happened in America, regardless of the reasons behind it. For those who died, the families that were left behind were left with a hole where a cherished family member once resided. Perhaps these unmentionables can be shown as unfortunate reminders of the past to guide the world in what not to do.

I think that it is good that they are doing this memorial, in my mind it shows we know what happened and we are not ever going to forget about it, so lets honor those that lost their lives. Its a memory of how we all came together that day.

I like the fact that they put a memorial there, it's better than leaving it as just some random area or building something else in it's place. I believe it was a good choice.
