The fact that the flu affected 40% of the worlds population is unbelievable...

Reading those two articles and watching the video made me realize how we all take our health for granted. We never really know how deadly a virus/sickness can be. That's why we need to be more cautious when interacting with animals, objects, and humans.. but that's just my opinion.

Let's hope the coronavirus doesn't mutate to become more human-human contagious. Or you could hope you get a mild version of the virus before it mutates so you get immunity or lesser effects.

i think we should demand everyone before getting on a plane, or bus to wash their hands. Lets hope this virus doesnt spread here. But if it does, we should be extra careful

It's amazing that so many people were affected by the flu, I wouldn't expect that and i agree with Linh that we take our health for granted. regarding the video, it's crazy to think that these new viruses just pop up. At least she said its hard for humans to get.

Is the 1918 flu epidemic only known as the Spanish Influenza because Spain was reporting it? Or is there another reason behind the name?

I can't view the vide. But I read the two articles and it is crazy to think that so many different versions of the flu can be strung back to the Spanish influenza. It's a scary thought to know that the world is due for another pandemic.

I don't understand how a virus can "kind of" be spread from human to human. How can it only spread to household members but not be spread by sitting by and infected person for prolonged hours during flight?

Like Linh, I believe people do take our health for granted. The U.S. is very fortunate to be as advanced as we are.
