I dont no about this test. I dont think that is all the accurate. I compared my scores with the chart thingy and it said that i was more sexist then the average female AND male. Definitly dont think that is true. but anyway it is kinda neat to see what they have to say. Have a great weekend and and see you on tuesday!!!

Wow i dont think this is right cause it sounds like i hate women which is weird lol. But like we talked about in class about the sports idea i believe that the reason y girls sports dont get attention is becuz they arent as intense as boys thats why no one watchs them not to be mean to any girl that plays a sport. but anyways have a good weekend!

I'm totally for these results. I have very few negative feelings toward women and I do like some typical gender role stereotypes. I've grown up in a society that tells women at an early age through movies and other media to want love and a man to be there to take care of us. I do want things of that nature, even though I know I don't need them. They still sound glamorous to me. I associate them with my emotions and how I really feel, when that isn't the case. It's like getting caught up in the moment, and then afterwards realizing you don't really hold it that strongly.

Tiffany,

I really enjoy reading your comments on the blog. So much insight on a Saturday night. Keep on posting. My benevelent sexism score was a little high. Fortunately my hostile results were quite low.

I thought this test was pretty right on I dont feel that i judge women differently then men and the benevolent part makes sense because i acknowledge that there are gender roles but i am just as open minded to those outside of them

"Hostile sexism," which involves negative feelings toward women

"Benevolent sexism," a knight-in-shining armor ideology that offers protection and affection to women who conform to traditional gender roles (e.g., cute girlfriend, obedient wife, etc.)

okay wow!! i don't think im that kind of person...
I believe that i lean more towards feminism. I wonder how these tests are calculated and then compared to others. it's interesting how these results come out and most people disagree with what it says.
why is that? Is it self reliazation?

Amanda,

I think some people don't want to admit to subconscious prejudice and possible sexism. I think learning about this stuff is opening some people's eyes to their inner thoughts.

Have a great Sunday.

Both my Hostile & Benevolent scores were 2.09. I thought that that was interesting, because I didn't think they'd be that high. It was interesting because I do like the concept of chivalry and things like that, and how it's kind of tradition for men to be the knight-in-shining-armor while women stereotypically don't do much more than sit back and watch the flowers bloom, but I never realized that in a sense that's sexism. I think you said it in an earlier post - people don't want to admit to unconscious prejudices and these tests are totally shining a light on some of what's going on in my noggin.

its interesting to see the results well i remember you said that we want the hostile score to be low which mine was.. it sounds nice to have a man in ur life to be there like some of those questions asked but then again all woman i think can be content without having a guy in their life, even though it would be nice. some of those questions about women were overated like some of them said that we put men on a tight leash and we exaggerate problems at work.. hahaha i thought that was pretty funny

I got 2.27 for both hostile snd benevolent. I don't know how common it is to get the same score for both, but it seems pretty relevant because I have a balanced view on what male and female roles play in society.

so my scores are really high on both and as not all of it holds true, I understand why I received both scores. I realize I do believe strongly in equal rights for men and women but when it comes to treating a girl like a princess... well some boys need lessons. I know times have changed and its hard to advocate equal rights and also still keep the knight in shining armor ideology but cmmon women are precious and should be treated so.

Well i thought the sexism test was strange. I did not like the questions asked I thought they were a little confusing. When i looked at the chart seemed I was fine. but overall I think the test wasn't great

Tara,

I understand your thoughts about gender treatment. I don't have a problem with that mindset, however, I think women should expect equal treatment and not always look to be protected/cared for by the men in their life.

my hostile score is 1.5 and my benevolent is 3. I scored really high compared to a good amount of well... anyone. But I'm okay with the fact that I want a guy who is going to head my family, take care of me, save me and be my night in shining armor. I don't think men are above me; certainly not. But i do want some gender roles in my future family. I will tell my kids it's okay to step out of them, but it's what I want for me and my future husband.

I believe in the more "knight in shining armor", guys should hold women at the top of their everything list, take care of the women as perfect as possible type of stereotype. It sound's good haha. Though, now thinking about it women should take care of the men just as equally as the men take of their ladies. Hmmm..

Great test, see you tomorrow! Or should I say.. a bientot!

My hostile sexism score was pretty much on target. I do think a lot of women, including myself, exaggerate a lot of things. I hate exaggerating but I still do it, it's a girl thing and its really annoying. I have no room to compain though because I do it too! But I guess my benevolent sexism score was kind of high. I don't really get what the benevolent score is... could you explain it to me please?
