Hey Carlisle. For essay question number one, I am going to write about the different opinions in America during the French Revolution. I was wondering wich party (DRs or Federalists) thought the revolution was a good thing and which one thought it was bad.

Dear Katie,
I believe that it was the Dem Reps that supported the revolution because they over threw a monarch and now the people had the power. The Federalists didn't support the revolution because the revolutionaries were atheist and it had previously been catholic I believe. Either that or Christian. I hope this helps you out. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.
5:09 PM
Cool yeah that helps, thanks Max!
5:19 PM
Oh and Devin-
That sounds really cool! Careful though, Carlisle might get jealous you are stealing his hits =P I will check it out after TOK, I have part of an essay to write before 6! =)
5:21 PM
Hey Carlisle I e-mailed you my outline for Essay #2. I'll send you the third one after TOK.
5:33 PM
Carisle i was wondering do phobias always start out as a mild fear or can they just happen?
5:55 PM
Digg it!
And thanks a lot for the help today Carlisle!
6:05 PM
Phobias can be a result of a trauma. They are found in the hippocampus, hence, they are an emotional memory, which makes it much more powerful than a regular fear. Regular fears are found in the amygdala. Phobias are drawn through classical conditioning, where the ultimate fear is death, and the person creates an irrational association. Phobias are then retained through operant conditioning, this overrides the "extinction" that would happen to the person, they would soon find out that they would not die when exposed to their fear. However, this never happens because of operant conditioning. They are "rewarded" when they avoid their fear, so there is usually never a voluntary situation for extinction to take place. That is were flooding and gradual exposure come in, as well as that thing with lights and a beep...
Just thought I'd ramble about phobias instead of study history. I think I'm right, correct me if I'm not...
I heard that Unis's class has been given the gift on question elimination. They will not have question 3... Perhaps we have the same thing? Even if you don't really tell us? One can only hope...
Oh, and the English code didn't work for me either.
Dang now I forgot what I was gonna say...
6:24 PM
Oh, and guys, since I am such the history master, feel free to AIM/Myspace/Facebook me your outlines, I will proof critique them and tell you what you could add to make a awesome essay..
Your welcome...
6:28 PM

Your treatise on phobias is spot on! Nice job.
No question elimination for my history puppies.
6:30 PM
Thanks, I would have to give credit to Mr. Caro... He could be a new superpower on the blogosphere, I've seen his recently manifested blog.
6:32 PM

7:03 PM
So with double jeopardy, a person can't be charged with the same crime twice unless... Unless what? Something about a hung jury?
7:05 PM
CLT,
No double jeopardy means the defendant cannot be charged with the same crime unless the jury DID NOT reach a verdict. If the defendant is acquitted and found not guilty then the state cannot ever bring the SAME charges against the accused ever again.
If the same person commits a different crime then all bets are off. Charges can and will be brought against the defendant.
7:16 PM
Hey. Is the quarter grade a transcripted grade?
7:28 PM

7:36 PM

"He does fit the profile perfectly. He's intelligent, but an under-achiever; alienated from his parents; has few friends. Classic case for recruitment by the Soviets."
P.S. There is a new Nibbler record.

is the date for the Articles of Confederation 1781 or 1777?
8:46 PM
The final draft was written in the summer of 1777 and adopted by the Second Continental Congress on November 15, 1777 in York, Pennsylvania after a year of debate.
8:51 PM
are you mr carlisle?
8:57 PM
No, but I am wise beyond my years, and my words are the truth.
9:00 PM
How many points are there for the 6th amendment?
9:02 PM
I know who "person with an answer" is! He enjoys quail and cheese sandwiches, but hates peas.
9:04 PM
Alex,
Yes.
Regarding the 6th Amendment question, look it up in your book.
9:07 PM
am i going to fail this test?
9:08 PM
Carlisle I have a question. The Virginia plan...was it created by Adams or Maddison? And what about the New Jersey Plan and the Connecticut compromise? Oh and they all have the same 'when' right? 1787?
9:14 PM
Person with a question,
I'm tired and I hate anonymous posts. If you continue you will be deleted. If that doesn't stop you I will turn off your ability to leave comments.
9:14 PM
VA Plan: Madison
NJ Plan: William Patterson

9:17 PM
Thanks for the help carlisle. I'm starting to feel much better about this test. and i heard Unis is eliminating one question. his class must not be very smart then. Thanks for helping us reach our full potential and making us study three questions.lol.
9:19 PM
Hey Calisle,
Okay so I'm trying to think between events and policies between federalists and Republicans. Could the "National Bank" be a valid poitn in this argument between these groups? Or is it too early for this question?
That and would that be an event or a policy?
That and check the fourm. Join up and I'll make you an admin.
http://ddrdevin.proboards76.com/index.cgi
9:22 PM
I thought that forum would be outside of school sanction... Dang
9:25 PM
It could be and techinacally is, but if I gave him admin functions with myself he'd have the ability to add information on a larger scale. Basically he'd be even with us students.
I don't know, it's hard to say. I still think it's outside school though. I guess I could restrict him to no admin but it's make our lives easier if he was.
9:29 PM
Devin,
The disagreement over the National Bank could definitely be a policy/event that divided the Federalists and the Demo-Repubs.
I am going to pass on the forum invitiation. The blog is keeping busy as it is. I prefer to address issues/questions about the material we cover in class via the blog. Do you really feel that a forum is necessary since you have the blog?
9:36 PM
But these questions feel too simple to be an exam question. I feel like i'm freaking out. Shouldn't we have some over complicated thesis? It seems like we'll just sit down with this test and be like:
Well the difference between the Republicans and Federlists were because of this and this and this and this, which lead to these events. Or where shown in this event.
The end.
that seems missing to me and it scares me.
It gives a different format then the blog. The blog is great for direct contact with you but the fourm is like one big study group that will only be in use really before an exam. More a student group then your blog.
9:40 PM
1. Stop freaking out. 2. You don't think essay #2 is challenging enough? I'm sure the majority of the class disagrees.
Come up with a direct outline for essay one. What policies/events caused the Feds and D-Rs to clash? Review your book and notes for specific things.
I guess I will make the next set of essay questions more challenging for you.
9:49 PM
It's not that I don't think they're hard I'm just afraid I'll go in there thinking it's simple and look everything over and then come back with another bad grade. I can't afford that.
And number 2 is a great question. I like that one. It's philisophical almost. We go in and explan our reasoning and the ngive examples of how the domcument was able to be strong for both opposite holding parties.
That again seems liek the right direction. Am I even close with that direction?
Oh and thank you so much, you helping us out like this is so cool!
9:55 PM
Devin,
For essay one think about the ideological differences between the two political parties. Once you have that down go back and review the policies/events that divided them between 1788-1800. This should be in your notes and your book.
For essay two think about what makes the Const. flexible. You can do this.
Essay three is super easy. Simply review your notes.
PLEASE, PLEASE see me in person for the next exam.
Oh, I really like the forum. I love it when students help out other students. Great idea!
10:00 PM
Isnt it funny how we give the Constitution human like qualities. Meaning personification. I think its funny but it is a sign of respect and significance
10:05 PM
Shole, sounds like you "borrowed" that from somewhere, but possibly you are that smart...
What would you do if I sang out a tune?
(Just thought I'd round it to 50 for the night..
10:09 PM
I thought you'd like it Carlisle, but no worries. I'll put up a link directly for yur blog to feed more traffic into you to get your little clicker up a few hundred.
Like I said, I think it'll become really active around tests in which I'll keep up with you and start changing the questions or listing ID's as we go along. That way we the students can have a seperate place we can all view and talk about for specific test material.
Thank you again so much! This helps a ton!
10:09 PM
would you stand up and walk out on me?
10:20 PM
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song...
10:21 PM
