Personally i think that the lie,and most media lies these days, are all based around money. Because of the economic situation people are willing to do a lot of things for money, like sell a story, or cause pain to themselves for media attention, the article said she was supposed to appear on Oprah, and she was probably getting paid to do so.
Oh, your wording was a little confusing in your first sentence. Yeah, it seems like she was doing this for the attention. However, I can't imagine throwing acid on my face. Sheesh.
Why did the supposed attacker have to be an African American woman? Even if Storros need someone to blame her little publicity stunt on, why did she have to add more fuel to the racial crime issue? To me, this is the worst part.
This lady has some serious mental issues. I can't imagine why any sane person would want to do something that horrible to themselves, and blaming it on an African American woman just makes it worse.
Her parents apology was really ingenuine sounding. They didn't really seem upset by the whole situation. I think that the whole family has serious mental problems. And as for why she said it was an African American woman she probably assumed it would sound more realistic that way, which probably is coming from her own racist beliefs.

Hayley,
The media didn't lie, Bethany Storros lied to her family, the police, the community, and the media.

I wasn't talking about the media lying, i was referring to people selling false stories to the media for money, sorry if that was confusing.

If the story is accurate then it is really sad what people will do to get attention.
