Great story about a Roosevelt High student who just earned an amazing educational opportunity. Follow the link.
After school, he turns off the TV, the computer, the music. Four straight hours focused on homework is his standard, he says. He begins his assignments the day they are given, not the day before they are due. "I don't procrastinate. I can't sleep if I don't do my homework."

This is inspiring. I wish I could maintain a better drive to learn. I think more critical thinking exercises, such as seminars and essays (low point value to avoid the stress), would get students more excited about the material. I know that this would be true for me.

Its funny how this kid was probably made up so people like me will try harder, not going to work on me!

This is a good story, it can really help put things into a better perspective for people....

I can bet that a lot more students wouldn't complain or make lame excuses about not getting their homework done if they knew about this kid.

That really is inspiring and I'm really glad for him, he obviously deserves that scholarship.

I agree with Casiana! He definitely deserves it. I think I might start putting all distractions aside when I read my history from now on...

I really wish I had this motivation. His story could change a lot of people's doubts about themselves. You always hear about famous people coming from humble backgrounds but I don't think that their stories hit people as hard as this one would.
