Hits to the head in football really do hurt, and ive seen plenty of kids knocked out from blind sided hits from kids. Personally i have never had a confirmed concussion by a doctor, but i know a lot of kids who after one concussion cant remember anything for several days.

Doesn't seem like concussions are very fun.

Uh, Mr. Meyer, you kind of need to write at least a sentence or two of some substance in order to get participation points on the blog.

I have gotten a concussion before in hockey, and it was very weird, because i blacked out and couldn't remember anything. It was very scary and can be very life limiting if it happens a lot, like we see in a lot of ex- pro football players.

I have never personally experienced going through a concussion. Due to the fact that i am involved with a high level of soccer, i do see very many of them happen. Just this past weekend i watched my teammate get side tackled in a play and her head collided into the goal post. She was rushed off to the hospital and was told that was her last concussion she was allowed to have. She wont be coming back to soccer anytime soon! from this i learned that concussions can be VERY serious to one's health.

Tucker and Hayley,
Great comments. Hayley, your comment made me wince. I can't imagine hitting one's head into a goal post. Ugh.

i know i'm no longer in your class but i thought i would add. i just got a concussion three weeks ago tomorrow and it's been difficult paying attention through the constant headaches, dizziness and occasional ringing in my ears. just thought it was weird that all this concussion talk is happening as i have one.

Concussions are serious. I have suffered many concussions from my football career, in fact, concussions are the reasons why I cannot play sports today. My doctor said that scientists really do not know what a concussion is. Some people can have 10 concussions in a lifetime and have no medical problems, and others can suffer two concussions and have horrible issues with their brain when they get older.

This reminds me of learning about Max Baer and Frankie Campbell. I believe that Campbell was hit hard in a previous bout and that was the main reason that he died when Baer hit him.

Brian,
How did you suffer your concussions?

I have never had experience with a concussion, but when my brother was in middle school a kid pushed him in shop class and on the way down he hit his head on a table and then the cement floor. It was really scary and I remember him not making any sense when he talked and all he wanted to do was sleep. It hasn't seemed to have any long term effects on him though.

In basketball practice one night katie hollingsworth and I got tied up in a jump ball and needless to say, she won. I was thrown to the ground and my head hit the floor. I finally was able to practice last night but i'm still not 100%

It is physically impossible for me to suffer a concussion...
