Hey Mr. Carlisle, the videos made today in class made me think about a short "the day called x" about Portland's plan if under nuclear attack from the 50's. If you haven't seen it yet you can watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueEl7A7KaHA
Why in the devil would anybody want that? That scares the bejeezes out of me. I've always been worried about robots. They're the only thing scarier than a communist
So many psychological connections I am making- ok, this is kinda creepy, but I actually could see this being used in situations like military wives would want to cuddle up with their hubby but can't. Sounds odd, but if you missed the feel of being with your loved one, this could possibly help.
I wonder why the legs were replaced with a tail. Also, the phone is right on the side of the head. Unless your significant other has a metal rectangle implanted in their head, the feel of the robot would be off.
I love these videos :) People always come up with the weirdest things, its so great. I wonder what makes them think of this stuff. I mean why in the world would someone ever need this? I'd never want one though, they kind of scare me. They look like body bags but colorful.
Looks like a waste of money to me. I feel like skype is way more useful than the vibrating creepy doll. I don't see how it would make you feel like you're actually with the person you're speaking on the phone with because last time I checked, people don't vibrate when you hug them.
Thats way too weird and creepy. I understand how it may help but its just too strange. Next thing they will have a slot where there will be enough room to put a picture of the person who you are talking too.
Yes,I'm so going to carry this around wherever i go to answer a phone call.....pure sarcasm. That would be insanely creepy and i would think it could come and attack me in my sleep or steal my soul.
I think that idea was way too weird. And not everyone I talk to over the phone, is someone that I would want to hug and talk to. And like Juliet said, I have yet to hug a person that vibrates when I hug them. I get why they created the robot, but I would never use one.
The soft phone robots are very weird, and I personally would never get one, but maybe they'll be like the next Snuggie. Everyone said those were dumb, and yet went out and purchased one. The people do look very happy!
I think that the idea is just too weird for it to become popular. Plus what happens if the person who calls you is someone you hate.. and also, the fact that the robot vibrates as if to have a heartbeat is kind of creepy. Maybe I'm just not open minded to new technology.
Before we know it, the Hugvie will develop thoughts and feelings imported from the voices from peoples phones, thus starting robopocalypse and a communist takeover. Everybody DUCK AND COVER!
You watch a video about this guy in Caro's psych class. He also makes little seals for old people and the seals talk to them. Oh, and he says one of these days the robots will become so aware and they'll actually turn into a real human. Scary stuff.
I think its really great for family's, lovers and children but that is not the usual targets for profit so I assume they won"t gain alot of money. Also I would prefer a non-human one.
I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I taught fourth grade for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years at an alternative high school in Western North Carolina. I have been at Tigard High School since the fall of 2003, where I teach U.S. History and Psychology.

If the Precursor Virus infected these, do you think they could be dangerous?
Robopocalypse!

Don't underestimate the doll. The people in the video all looked pretty happy using it.

If feel like, if you owned one of these you probably don't have any friends to call. Also, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4137782.stm

A favorite with the uncomfortably close talkers demographic. Taking small talk to the next level.

And yes Harrison, I'm sure micro-fiber pillows would become a real threat if they started showing signs of hostility..
