Hey Carlisle,

I know you are really busy this week, but if you could look over my Analysis and Evaluation of Sources tomorrow after class, that would be wonderful! If it would be easier, I could drop them off at the beginning of the day instead.

Carlisle, I talked to Mrs. Thurber and I'm not able to miss the beginning of class next Wednesday, so can I come after school to finish the rest of the test?

My Chinese grandfather, William Lee, also served in WWII. He was a Private for 4 months and a Technical Sergeant 5 (specialist5), for 26 months. He was part of the 70th Division Field Artillery and served in the European theater (Rhineland and Central Europe) and United States as a cook. I think I have 3 pictures of him during the war.

Anything else?

I will get the details and pictures on my other grandfather sometime soon... I'm pretty sure he was a Sergeant.

Carlisle, everyone else is discussing great things that their family has done and I feel left out. My mom was in Okinawa in 1979 and she was with the landing support battalion. And she went on a deployment to S. Korea in '80, where she was in the DMZ. She never got to pwn any no0bs, but oh well. My dad also went to Okinawa and S. Korea, but I don't know what he did.

Carlisle-
This may sound like a stupid question, but I was wondering if "The Story of Jazz" by Marshall W. Stearns is a primary resource. It was published in 1956 and he starts the book out with " For the last thirty years- ever since the Hot Five recordings - I have been trying to read all the writings on jazz, listen to all the recordings of jazz, and talk to all the musicians who play jazz that I could possible discover. This history, then, is a synthesis, and I cannot begin to acknowledge all my indebtedness to others, although I wish I could do so" So, he was alive when jazz was present and could witness it, but he gets a lot of his information from other resources... Primary, or Secondary? Like I said, it might be kind of a silly question only because I forget the specifications of each type of resource.

Katie,

Not a stupid question at all. However, it's a tricky question. My gut tells me to go with secondary source. It seems to me that the author is writing about the history of jazz but he also lived it too. It could sort of be both. I would have to see it to give you a more definitive answer. Again, I would go with secondary.

Hope this helps. I'm headed to my couch now. Good night.

Yeah, it helps. I will bring it in tomorrow for you to look at it though. I'm only concerned about it because I am thinking about evaluating it for Part C and I already have a secondary resource. But, it can wait. Enjoy your couch time (and Kid Nation! =P )

i think maybe kid nation is on... so maybe someone else can help me, if i have like 4 or 5 sentences all coming from the same page in a book do i have to put a foot note for each one saying over and over again "ibid 73" or can i just put one foot note at the end of the paragraph??
