Ah the joys of IB classes. At least the IA is over. Thank God I don't have to grade very many. No grading today. I'm taking the day off after grading on a SATURDAY!
Just got back from a 50 mile ride on my singlespeed bike. Sauvie Island and back to Southeast Portland. Good stuff.

I still have PTSD (Post Traumatic Speech Disorder) from Friday and Saturday. Let me just say that with all the insanity and horror pieces that I saw this weekend, that little blue board is what has installed the most fear in me.
9:06 PM
why do you torture is so carlisle?!
9:30 PM
us not is
9:31 PM
Wow, almost 8000 hits! I think the 10,000th visitor should get a prize.
9:48 PM
Alex,
Installed or instilled?
Sarah and John,
My little board was not meant to instill fear in you. After grading nearly 60 IAs I just need to vent a little. You guys should know that they are some really strong IAs as well. However, after reading SOME of the IAs it's extremely apparent that some people did not do their best work. I'm somewhat surprised that a 200 point assignment was not taken as seriously as should have been.
We will discuss the IA in great detail on Tuesday.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discrimin ate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
