Arctic Expedition

My friends, I'm about to venture out to the frozen tundra that is the Portland metro area. I'm walking downtown and taking the bus back home. If I don't post any updates on the blog by 3:00 something has gone terribly wrong. If that is the case, then the Yodler will be your teacher for the remainder of the year. Wish me luck.

carlisle,
please be careful. the voices in my head are telling me that the hobos downtown are quite cold. if they see you all nice and bundled up, they might cuss you out.

Just so you know there are microchips telling me to cut power to the school. I'm thinking no school tomorrow. try driving around tigard. my car was doing 360s. and if you know what car i have, thats pretty impossible. subarus are made for the snow.

Rock on.

Joseph,

The DBQ will still take place on Wed. and Thursday assuming we have school. The forecast was calling for snow Wed. so who knows at this point.

What are the streets like out in the 'burbs? Walking downtown was downright treacherous. I'm happy to report my downtown experience was hobo free.

I'm done with my I.A i'm going to email it to you. Is it ok that i'm over by 200 words?

2:33 PM

Blogger Mr. Carlisle said...

Harbolt,

Email it. YOU NEED TO EDIT. 200 words over the limit is unacceptable. You will lose significant points if your IA is not edited.

Those 200 word are reserach i have already cut out a large section or research that i thought i could live with out

Blogger Mr. Carlisle said...

I don't know what to tell you. The word limit is 2000 words. If you take Modern IB next year the word limit will be the same.

Tucker,

Highlight only the content of your IA and then get a word count.

In regards to the Bush video, see the post below this one on the blog.

woah. dbq ISNT on thursday and friday then... yikes. please tell me someone else thought it was too.
weird. the thought of a full on ice age has never really appealed to me before. is anyone else finding that their circle of interests are broadening in this time of great discovery?
so we only have one more reading besides the weekend one?

Hey just a warning dont go to cook park.(not that anyone would)I went down earlier to take photos and I fell. I fell yestersay too, but that was just do to bad coordination and snow. BUT, today it was super icy and anything that had kind of melted, froze over again. But when I did get to the park it was pretty sweet. I got to see some pretty sick coyote tracks, if I do say so my self.
Snow isnt so bad, its just the ice. I remember when I live in Illinois it snowed like 5-6 inches and school wasnt even delayed. The only time we missed school was during a blizzard where it snowed like 4 feet...
The moral of the story is dont fall like me, its icy here in the "burbs". the end. :)

Frannie,

The DBQ was/is scheduled for Wed. and Thursday. Tomorrow I will lecture on the weekend reading from McPherson and the reading from your text book which takes us to the election of Lincoln in 1860.

What are the streets like in Tigard? I'm predicting a two-hour delay tomorrow.

I dont know some of the roads are pretty clear, but wet, so if it ices over then it will proboly be a two-hour delay.I think it depends how it is up on the mountain...

I think your assessment is spot-on Lauren. However, Wednesday's forecast isn't looking very promising. Hopefully the powers that be will let us all know something this evening.

Come on, I cannot take the Bio test this week. It's going to be ugly.

By the way, regarding your video of GDub, although I am depressed with his 20-30something percent approval rating, I am comforted by the fact that he is a Ninja.

Can I get an Amen?

Seriously guys every other school in Washington County has already said no school for tomorrow but ours! of course! This is crazy!

Amen, Narintohn.

And yeah--our district is infamous for letting us know like, 5 minutes before we need to leave for school.

I haven't seen what Bull Mountain Road looks like, but I know that the off roads of it are covered with snow, and underneath--ice.

This is a really awkward time to have a blizzard. I really would like to not worry about school over winter break.

I have this gut feeling that there will be school tomorrow. I really wish all this snow had come right after winter break instead of right before it.

School closed tomorrow! And they're expecting a snow storm either Wednesday or Thursday, I can't remember which, so it's looking like a school-less week if you ask me...3 week winter break!

But we'll probably have another week of school in July, so that's sad. I think I'm okay with it though. Yay for instant gratification!

So Carlisle, I believe your blog is THE most popular blog I have ever been to, look at all these comments!!

But even though it has just been announced no school tomorrow, when we do get back - how will we know if it is an A or B day???!!

5:23 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wait so since school is closed for tomo that means we will not have all of the material for the test and we will be unprepared which forces you to cancel it because you cant give us a test if we have not learned it am I correct? :) and if you hadn't guessed im really ok with that Calisle.

Just went to the dentist roads are icy in the burbs. oh and there is a news station at the tennis courts...? random

Carlisle-
I have a proposal for you.
Since I am a very responsible student maybe you will condiser this?
Well I am honestly very angry about these snow days. I have too much to do, especially a whole world lit for Townzen. And I know that nobody in that class is prepared to turn that in with no help from her. So I think that many of us are very stressed. And maybe there will be school Wednesday, but I think it might be better if we delay the DBQ. Also because all of my notes necessary for studying for this test are at school. :-) But I personally am not 100% confident with what we have to do for this test either.
Maybe you will consider this?
:-)

my mistake ha. you going to answer my comment? cause I would really like to know what the last readings are or what I should study, I mean I know to study the Fugitive Slave Act but anything in perticular?
Thanks

Blogger Rebekah said...

Yes I also believe these two days are bittersweet. It is nice to have snow days but not necessarily the week before winter break especially when there was supposed to be so many tests and projects this week. I personally had 5 tests this week. I definitely was looking forward to not very much homework over break but now I don't know if that will happen. And I am also concerned to forget the stuff that I have learned especially in bio and history. :(

6:02 PM

Blogger Mr. Carlisle said...

Erika,

You need to examine your notes that have anything to do with the Fugitive Slave Act. That's it. Remember, the first part of the DBQ is only about the documents I give you. You can' really study for that part. The essay part is what you need to prep for. I'm going to ask you about how the North's resistance to the Fugitive Slave Act.

Rebekkah,

At least your IA will be complete and the DBQ is super easy. You don't really have much to prep for over the break.

6:09 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

HA! carlisle finally admit that there will be snow days! because he is giving us study hints for the DBQ over the break!
Also, thinking about the blowing up hummers and breaking the hands of graffiti artist is a strong indicator of you being a democrat.

Jonathan,

Have you known Democrats to be considered "tough on crime"? I think not. True conservatives believe in conservation.
