Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

I hope you all are enjoying your three day weekend. In order to help you remember why you have today off from school, I have posted part of Dr. King's final speech. It was given on April 3, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. King was in Memphis assisting
striking sanitation workers. Unfortunately his words were incredibly prophetic because he would die from an assassin's bullet the next day on the balcony outside of his hotel room in Memphis.

See you tomorrow.

Those last words about not being worried about anything and fearing no man were the most significant words in that clip to me with his death nearing soon after. Wow.

I think it's sad that he said that he wanted to live a long life and then he was killed the next day.

I haven't heard this speach before I dont think, but that is really sad that he died the day after giving this speach. My Great Aunt who lives in GA was his secretary, and talks about him sometimes. Its pretty interesting...

I was watching this show about Dr. King's death, and apparently there's some doubt that it was James Earl Ray who killed him. Apparently, Ray wasn't smart enough as a crook to pull off that plan (he once dropped his wallet while robbing a bank).

If i can convince my Aunt Mac to come up, I will definately talk to her about it. Its weird though cause she calls him Martin, not out of disrespect but because thats what she called him...
