Rodney King Beating in LA--1991

1992: LA Riots-- Happened as a result of the not guilty verdicts of the LA police officers who beat King. The following video shows the brutal beating a truck driver named Reginald Denny. Mr. Denny was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Honestly I have no idea how you could find those cops not guilty. I mean, they are hitting the guy incessantly while he is on the ground not posing any threat. It sure seems like extremely excessive force to me.

Wow!This is outrageous! First the guy gets beaten up for NOT DOING ANYTHING...and then everyone is just standing there, except for Bobby Green of course, but still. Really Now?

I have to agree with Joseph. There's no way that the cops had a strong enough reason to use excessive force like that. I think this case shows the racism that was still present in America. There's no other reason to explain why they brutally beat up King.

I talked to a police officer about this and he said that because of the adrenaline, it's hard to stop fighting someone even after they stop resisting. We only saw a clip of the arrest so before that the guy may have actually resisted which may have made the police go really crazy to a point where it was hard to stop.

But the police looked pretty calm so I don't think adrenaline can account for all of the beating. I think it's absurd that they weren't found guilty.

Was the video submitted as evidence? If so then that just adds to the ridiculousness of the whole thing. How can you NOT say that they were guilty, I thought racism like that died down too much for a case this big to be tainted with racism like that.

Also I'm confused about the guy that was pulled out of the truck, so he was pulled out of the truck and then beaten until Bobby Green saved him. what im confused about is that after he was saved, Bobby said he took the guy to the hospitol, but the video showed him laying on the floor by himself, so did he get the crap beat out of him, then Green saved him, left him there to go get his car? then take him to the hospitol?

the guy was just laying on the ground and from the looks of it, he was completely harmless. the police looked like they were pretty calm too then just decided it'd be fun to beat him up. I guess all there is to say is that it's ridiculous.

That is messed up. I cant believe those cops were not guilty, especially with evidence that proves other wise. If I was that guy, I would of ran those people over now knowing about what happened.

All I can say for the Rodney King incident is that it spawned a lot of classic 90's hip hop songs.

Oh, and an adrenaline rush is a crappy reason to beat someone up in my opinion...

in the fcop beating video there was actualy a car that you can see pull up to the beating when the camera zooms out. the person inside didnt even try to take action (unless they were screaming at the cops and we cant hear it) but then it occured to me that even if someone wanted to help king they cant; the people someone would call to save king are already there. i think when the police recrute thhey should check for abusive/unequal thought against others. how can these guys call themselves the good guys when they do things like this!?

thats sad. that guy was just curled up a ball laying there while they beat him like a pin-yata. i agree with bitney, the po should have been convicted. how can they enforce a law they cant follow themselves...

I agree with everyone else and I think that is really sad that he was beat up by the police. They even stepped on his head while he was laying on the ground and didn't seem to be resisting at all. Those cops should have been found guilty.

yea, thats not very...nice? lol. i dont understand why the cops would do that to anybody, especially during more progressive times. who was video taping the whole thing(first video)? i can understand racism still being in america, since its programmed in some people, and then there is prob the white majority haveing to do with it, but i would not think it could go as far as beating sombody up like that for no good reason.

That is ridiculous! I find it really strange when police are the ones that are brutally beating people. This man did nothing wrong and was beaten up terribly! Those cops definitely should be found guilty.

For the Rodney King beating: I don't understand what he did. Looked as if the cops were just partying it up beating the guy. I talked to my mom about it and showed her the video. She said that we were actually living in Simmivalley, CA at the time when this incident happened and it was really big. So ya!
