When he says the "theory" (sum of unconscious functions?) takes place in the left hemisphere, is this self perception? How does neural activation become thought and action, or do we not know?
I can't really answer the part of the question that deals with neural activation. That clip illustrates how the two hemispheres of the brain impact motor function. Once the corpus callosum is severed, the two hemispheres of the brain do not communicate with one another.
I've seen this video before in my old school. I have know for years that the the opposite side of your brain controls the opposite side of the body. I found it very interesting when I found that out.
It's probably bad that I laughed at the part when he draws the saw instead of the hammer.. it was so random.. but this is crazy, I didn't know this existed. It's really hard to comprehend that he physically can't see things to the left of the dot but can draw it and learn what he saw. -Jen Knight
I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I taught fourth grade for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years at an alternative high school in Western North Carolina. I have been at Tigard High School since the fall of 2003, where I teach U.S. History and Psychology.

I wonder how someone can live like that forever. So he has no peripheral vision? What does he see when he walks around?

It's interesting how he can draw what he doesn't consciously see but unconsciously sees.

So, the right side of your body is controled by the left brain...and the other way around....interesting.

This video I understand much better than the one we saw in class. It's so weird that he's not mentally aware that he's drawing what he couldn't say.

That is so cool. If he was a better artist he could make a lot of money.
