About Me
- Name: Mr. Carlisle
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I taught fourth grade for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years at an alternative high school in Western North Carolina. I have been at Tigard High School since the fall of 2003, where I teach U.S. History and Psychology.

I completely agree with the whole idea of grouping different kinds of problems together on the homework so the student has to learn how to recognize the difference between different kinds of problems. I always hated when I'd get homework that was all the same kind of problem over, and over again. It gets redundant.

The different environments is something I agree 100% on. When I stick to one room, I feel irritated and need to find something new around me because everything has become too familiar.

I have always agreed that students don't really have different learning styles. There are many ways to teach, but how much someone actually learns is based off of the students willingness and motivation to learn what is being taught.

I found the idea of different study environments to be extremely interesting because all throughout high school I've just had one study spot. After reading this article, it makes much more sense to mix up my study habits.
