What would be an example of negative reinforcement in public education? I'm thinking of focusing on elementary school and I need something different than teacher nagging students to study. What would you recommend? I have praise and candy as positive reinforcement, extra hw and writing lines as positive punishment and taking recess time and free time away as negative punishment. What do you think?

Max,

Assigning students homework is not positive punishment. You don't have to use negative punishment if it won't work. Re-read the question, it clearly states "if applicable". I'm going to clarify this question some tomorrow morning. You could also use schedules of reinforcement as well. Hope this helps

Updated Electoral Map

Changes from yesterday:

Missouri to Toss-up (previously Lean GOP; -11 votes McCain)
North Carolina to Toss-up (previously Lean GOP; -15 votes McCain)
Ohio to Lean Dem (previously Toss-up; +20 votes Obama)
Virginia to Lean Dem (previously Likely Dem)
West Virginia to Lean GOP (previously Likely GOP)

And Obama's momentum continues. He's picked up Ohio, adding 20 votes to his tally and pushing him over 300 electoral votes.

McCain on the other hand, is losing ground in key red states, North Carolina just went Toss-up, as did Missouri. And West Virginia shows Obama gaining some ground in the polls, though McCain still holds a lead.

At this point, McCain would need A) a miracle, or B) a huge flap on Obama's part (think Bittergate and Rev. Wright combined and you'll have an idea how big) in order to pull this one off. And as the economy continues to tumble downwards, he (and all Republicans) are getting blamed for it. McCain's record as a deregulator is starting to hurt him, as some are seeing him as part of the reason we're in this mess. While that has been discounted by almost all pundits as false, public opinion need not be correct in order to do harm.

Too bad the bailout didn't go through. It's sure great to have your banks be able to pay you back if you have more than 100,000 dollars in there. Now everyone's going to be running around redistributing the money in their accounts. Bad for the banks. Of course I guess this forces them to learn their lesson and stop being so greedy. They don't exactly have another option anymore.
