1) Do you happen to listen to Tapes 'n Tapes and/or Fleet Foxes?

2) Did you notice my improved handwriting while grading my reading quiz today?

3) What did you think of Obama's speech?

1. No. Yes. I have an EP and a full length album by FF.

2. Yes.

3. I thought it was soaring rhetoric. All in all, a great speech. Mind you I will not tell you what I thought of vague policy items he mentioned in the speech.

1. Good. I saw them on the last SNL. They were the only thing that was worth watching. Why do I keep tuning in every Saturday night? What's wrong with me? Maybe I keep hoping it'll get better..

2. It's the new pens. I love new pens.

3. I agree.

However, did you happen to catch the performance by the musical greats Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma (and those two other musicians who didn't matter)? As someone who appreciates music, I basically *facepalmed* when they 1) announced that they were playing 'Simple Gifts' 2) It was arranged by John Williams.

So. Wrong.

Am I the only one who felt that way? Please tell me no.

I'm sorry your musical sensibilities were offended by the song selection. Do you have any music by Yo-Yo Ma on CD?

I believe have some...maybe stored away somewhere. I have cello music performed by others though. Have you heard of Mischa Maisky? He was quite good many years ago.

Maybe I'm a traditionalist when it comes to orchestral music. Maybe that's why I dislike John Williams. 'Simple Gifts', however, is another story.

But I am no musical expert/connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination.

But I mean, c'mon, the arrangement for 'Air' and 'Simple Gifts' was horridhorridhorrid.

Perlman and Ma sorta pulled it off though because they're good.

If you say so. They sounded beautiful to me. I like me some cello.

Right. I mean the arrangement of the piece wasn't great but of course the musicians sounded good because they are legit.

That's what Narintohn meant :)
