About Me

I'm a native South Carolinian and I attained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I taught fourth grade for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years at an alternative high school in Western North Carolina. I have been at Tigard High School since the fall of 2003, where I teach U.S. History and Psychology.

his references to other countries and slavery definitely make his speeches powerful and convincing. he seems like the type of speaker that could convince anybody to do anything through sense and reason.

I have read quite a bit about Malcolm X and while I can't say that I agreed with all of his policies while he was a member of the nation of Islam, I think that I agree with a majority of his views after his Hajj. He definitely is one of the most interesing figures of the time period in my opinion. I think a good quote to sum up is MLK's after he was assassinated:
"While we did not always see eye to eye on methods to solve the race problem, I always had a deep affection for Malcolm and felt that he had a great ability to put his finger on the existence and the root of the problem. He was an eloquent spokesman for his point of view and no one can honestly doubt that Malcolm had a great concern for the problems we face as a race."
