This is obviously fake due to a number of factors. First of all, the airplane is not blurry when it definitely should be since it's moving at high speeds. Secondly, how would the camera survive the plane colliding with the tower? Finally, I heard a news story that according to the direction the plane was facing in the photo it would have hit the north tower and the north tower did not have an observation area like the one in the photograph. It also was a different type of plane than the one that crashed into the tower. This is apparently a sick joke then, and I'm guessing it was probably done just to see what kind of impact it would have. That's sad that someone would do that.

Wow, Joseph did his research! Well the obvious answer is NO WAY that is this a primary resource. Interesting photo.

It's fake because he would have heard the plane and would have turned around by the time it was that close.

not a chance. like you would really just sit there and pose for a picture if a plane was coming at you . hahaha. photoshop in my opinion is getting out of hand, how can we trust any picture anymore?

With all due respect, i took this photograh and the german man, Adalwolf, who happened to have been a dear friend of mine, was deaf. My camera is blur resistant, and mostly shatter-proof. Sadly the same cannot be said for the plane which-yes,indeed- looked quite different after the accident. oh and the bars of the "observation deck"? that part i photo shopped in. I feel that it adds better angles to the whole peice, no? Good research bitney, but trying checking snopes next time.

oh that is so a real photo!! it only crashed because sasquatch was in there, the guy never finished pilot school.

I find it doubtful that anyone would have survived the crash if they were higher than where the plane hit. It probably would have been very hard to get back down. A nice attempt at using Photoshop however.

P.S. I checked Google and a baby names website, and neither time did "Adalwalf" show up (1 result on Google turned out to be a typo). If Adalwalf was this guy's name, I would suspect it would show up on the Internet more.

I think this is pretty funny. If the airplane was further away from the guy, There would be a slight possibility that I would have said it was real.

at first glance it looks pretty realistic considering the plane is in the background, but u can tell its fake by the fact the planes not blurry at all, its perfectly clear

At first glance the picture does look real but after looking at it for awhile no its not because of the airplane, it should be blurred, also if it was coming wouldn't the person in the photo see it and turn around??

You guys ruin everything. I was actually hangliding over the towers when this happened. I saw a few French people posing, I think they thought it was a tourist attraction, all fake-like, but I'm sure there could have been some Germans there as well.

But I'll admit that it is highly likely that this was photoshopped. You can tell cause there's not nearly enough smog in the background. They just took the smog out to make it seem like a brighter event, much as Disney might do.

Ha, well seeing that just about everything you could say to prove that it's fake has been said, i've been all for it being fake from the beginning, but as for a reason, it's already been mentioned...pretty much a nice combination of all of the answers makes a nice answer for me :) lol.

Ha I love how it's a perfect picture of the plane. It would not be that good of a picture if it was actually moving. The plane is disproportioned in size too. Plus who would just standing calmly taking the picture? What an idiot. I wonder what this persons goal was making this picture and posting it everywhere. I really hope no on believes that.

Okay, if you're bringing up the velocity of the plane, you have to drop either the blur arguement or the "calmness" arguement.

It is an essential truth that Germans aren't the greatest with American technology, digital cameras in particular. So they sit there holding the camera up to their face looking through the eye hole as old people and foreigners seem to do. So his awareness of his surroundings is completely hampered (the sound of the wind at that hight neutralizing the roar of plane engines). By the time he clicked the button, the plane traveling usually 250-360 miles per hour could easily enter the shot too fast for human reflex.

Theres no way this could be a primary source. First just by looking at the photo, the texture and color of the background and the airplane and the guy are different. Even if it is real, how would it of survived through the crash, plus the tower collapse, etc.

Hahahahahahahahhaha this is so ridiculous! Maybe these guys were terrorists, and this whole picture thing was planned out as a sort of a trophy or gag or maybe a christmas card back home. It was a camera from iraq so that could explain the weird font. And to explain how it got off the tower, well it's obvious the guy through it over the edge, perfectly landing in the hands of another terrorist below! I believe it.
