This video is awesome. The brain is so amazing in how it works and processes things. Crazy how he can draw what he "didn't see".

That video was helpful. I didn't totally underdstanding the testing until i saw the video. But thats really cool. i can't believe they can draw something with their sub concious and have it be the object they didn't say earlier.

Duse, that's freaky... I guess it's kinda like making chili: You can have a bowl of meat and a bowl of beans, but they aren't chili until you put them together.

Pretty interesting. I've been really intrigued in psychology for a while now, always trying to figure out how my head works, but watching this video made me realize that there is alot more behind psychology than I thought. I'm ready to expand my knowledge (:

This was a great video! It really made me understand more. It was very interesting when he could not read the pan word to the left of the point but he could draw it with his eyes closed. I liked this video.

Wow!!! I almost want to have a split brain just so I can experience such an amazing thing. However i couldn't imagine how frustrating it would be to know what you want to wear and then try and grab it and be unable to. So interesting. Carlise, you could very well change my planned profession to wanting to be a major in Psych. This stuff is way cool.

I find the subject split brain quite fascinating. I think that it would be very interesting to experience split brain for a short period of time to get a more full understanding of what it is. I find it so interesting that he was easily able to name a picture or word on the right side of a fixed point by using the opposite side of the brain, but not able to name something on the left. It was very cool to watch someone at first have no idea what they just saw, but is able to close their eyes and draw what they just saw and then name it. It’s very different, but interesting to watch the left hand get major control from the right half brain.

Ha ha, Thanks for the very kind offer Carlsie, but I would like to see your medical degrees before you go anywhere near my head with sharp objects. :) You may make a pretty great teacher (so far...hope I didn't just Jinx that...) but I'm not so sure about your operating skills.

i think the whole split brain thing is a pretty cool concept. how did they ever think to try something like that? i was also wondering if they can think about the object they saw on the left, like see it in their mind just not be able to say it or if drawing it is totally subconscious. That would be so weird to think that half of your brain could be hiding information from you...

It is very interesting how the mind works. Although i felt like I understood this process when i read it in the book, I got slightly confused as we reviewed it in class. This video, after watching it a couple of times helped me understand it alot better. Thanks Carlisle.

Didn't the video we watched in class say that they still process the right hand portion of the left picture in the test? Like the lady new it was a woman but didn't see she was on the phone. Or do they not see it at all?

Alex,

The split brain patient still sees the image, it's just that the image isn't fully processed in their brain.

Whoa! That is so weird how he can't see what is to the left of the dot. I thought it was really neat how he had no idea why he drew what he did. I have a fairly good grasp on how it works now.
