Snow Day Schedule--IB students

Greetings students,

It appears you've got your precious day off from school in a three day week. I will most likely see you tomorrow as no more precipitation is in the immediate forecast. If you have your reader at home, please read the Randall Miller reading entitled, The Black Slave Driver (it's a really good reading!) Please use this day to make significant progress on your IA. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as you will be researching five utopian communities from the mid-1800 and presenting information on them next week.

Please enjoy the video below if you want to have an amazing song stuck in your head all day long. Until tomorrow.

'Sup students? Just got finished watching the latest forecast for tomorrow and it's looking like the snow is going to miss us. The best thing you can hope for tomorrow is a LATER late start. Remember, any snow days we get this winter will be tacked on the school calendar in June. That's not cool.

Tomorrow I will lecture on slavery, field questions on the IA, and most likely show Roots. See you tomorrow.

Okay, the second quarter begins tomorrow. A new seating chart will go into effect tomorrow morning for both classes. If you want to sit up front, just let me know tomorrow in class. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE REQUIRED READING FOR TOMORROW!!!

Regarding the IA, we're entering the critical phase for this major project. 200 points are at stake for this paper. I sincerely hope you all made some headway on the IA during your long weekend. Your Plan of Investigation rough draft is not due until Friday, Nov. 19. However, I strongly urge you to get it to me before that date. The earlier you get it to me the faster I can give you feedback and help you with any problems you may be encountering with your IA.

THIRD PERIOD, YOU HAVE SECOND LUNCH THIS FRIDAY!! (REMINDER #1)

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Attention IB US History Students!

Okay, in case you are struggling with your Evaluation of Sources, please heed the following advice for ORIGIN:

Origin: Just tell me in a sentence or two what your source is. For example, are you using a primary source? Secondary source? Once you've done that, tell me if your source is a speech, diary entry, biography, newspaper article, etc. That's all you have to do.

I will cover this in more detail on Thursday. I will also have more information this week about registering for PCC credit. I hope this helps. Please email me if you have any further questions.

Find out the effects of a nuclear bomb detonating on Tigard. Type in Tigard, OR and see what happens. I'd say this is a little scarier than Boba Fett playing the theme to Back to the Future on his accordion.
