HISTORY STUDENTS

Here are my thoughts for essay #1:
When answering this question, please support your thesis with STRONG EVIDENCE. Avoid simply summarizing various events from Jackson's presidency; I want ANALYSIS about Jackson's presidency.
You need to answer the essay with at least three events from Jackson's presidency. For each event, explain if Jackson's actions as president were ones that either supported democracy and the rule of law or were actions that subverted democracy and the rule of law.

Feel free to email me your outlines and/or your questions for any of the essays. Have a great weekend.

HISTORY STUDENTS

I hope your weekend has treated you well so far. I thought I would give you a few helpful reminders about Part D:

1. Approach Part D like a unit exam essay. Place your investigation in its historical context and then focus on two-three points for analysis.

2. PLEASE DO NOT SIMPLY REPEAT ALL OF YOUR FACTS FROM PART B.

3. EDIT. EDIT. EDIT. EDIT. EDIT. EDIT. EDIT. Avoid losing points from your overall grade for grammar. Have someone else read your analysis.

Finally, enjoy this sketch from The Ben Stiller Show:

'Sup History students?

Hello five people that check the blog. Feel free to pass this information on to the "students" who don't check the blog.

I need you to start thinking about Part D of your IA. Please read the information in your IA Handbook on Part D. We are in the lab for one whole period this Thursday and part of a period on Friday. Here are some helpful hints for Part D:

1. Think of your IA this way: Part B was where you placed the dots and Part D is where you will connect the dots. Part B contained the FACTS   Part D will be the WHY. You will write Part D much like you would a response to an essay question. You will provide the reader with ANALYSIS.

2. Don't forget to cite in Part D when it is called for (i.e., using information that is not your own). However, Part D should not have a ton of citations.

HISTORY STUDENTS

ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT:
READING ASSIGNMENT IS 316-21 IN YOUR TEXTBOOK!

Part C is due at the start of class on Monday. Enough said.

Read carefully this weekend, your reading addresses John Quincy Adams' presidency and his attempts to unite the country economically. Pay close attention to those policies and the controversy surrounding his election.

If you require help with Part C, please consult your IA handbook and the one page handout I gave you this past week. Feel free to email me with your questions once you have done that. I will be out of the house Sunday afternoon from around 1:15 until 4:00. FYI.

Have a good weekend.
